“Funding is now available for aspiring entrepreneurs in Cumbria.”

Cumbria Community Foundation Announces Grant for Young Entrepreneurs in Cumbria

Cumbria Community Foundation has launched a new fund to support young entrepreneurs in Cumbria. The SWEF Enterprise Fund will provide grants of up to £2,000 to young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who are running a business within its first two years of trading. Additionally, grants of up to £500 are available to those launching a new business.

The fund aims to help young entrepreneurs facing financial challenges by providing them with the necessary resources to develop their business. This could include funding for equipment, materials, product development, or building a website.

Dr Jenny Benson, Director of Programmes & Partnerships at Cumbria Community Foundation, expressed her excitement about managing the fund and its potential impact on young entrepreneurs in Cumbria. She stated, “We are delighted to be managing the SWEF Enterprise Fund in Cumbria and know it will make a real difference to young people starting out in business.”

Lally Holme, Grants Manager at SWEF, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership with Cumbria Community Foundation and encouraged young entrepreneurs to apply for the grant.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30, living in Cumbria, and facing financial challenges that are hindering the development of their business. The first round of funding will close on Friday 16 May 2025.

Interested applicants can apply for the SWEF Enterprise Fund Start-Up Grant for funding up to £500, or the SWEF Enterprise Fund Business Grant for funding up to £2,000. For more information and to apply, visit the Cumbria Community Foundation website.
