PSA Prime Marine Partners with College to Boost Youth Employment and Business Growth

PSA Prime Marine, the multi-award-winning yacht maintenance and management company led by Su and Pete Stirling, is expanding once again—this time with the support of a valuable collaboration with South Hampshire College Group and the addition of talented young engineers to its team.

As part of the firm’s wider commitment to community engagement and skill development, two 18-year-old students recently joined the company for their mandatory 50-hour work placements. One of the students, Tamim, has notably impressed the team with his hands-on skills, dependability, and initiative.

Originally from Iran, Tamim was soon invited to remain with PSA Prime Marine on a part-time basis while continuing his education. He now plays an active and vital role in the business, undertaking diverse tasks such as painting, mechanical maintenance, varnishing, polishing, and plumbing.

“Tamim’s work ethic and enthusiasm have been outstanding,” said Pete Stirling, Co-Founder of PSA Prime Marine. “He’s exactly the kind of young person we want to support and develop in this industry. It’s a pleasure to be able to give him the hands-on experience that complements his studies.”

This extra support has been especially timely, with PSA Prime Marine experiencing rising demand after a successful showing at a recent boat exhibition. As a result, the company is now refining its marketing direction and strengthening brand presence to build on its current momentum—made possible in part by its capable and committed team.

Plans are already in motion to offer Tamim a full-time position upon finishing college in June. PSA Prime Marine is also eager to expand its partnership with the South Hampshire College Group to give more students access to similar real-world work opportunities.

“We’re passionate about playing a role in shaping the next generation of marine engineers,” added Su Stirling. “Working closely with the college gives us the opportunity to nurture young talent while offering students real-world experience that directly supports their education.

“Having been a teacher myself, I know just how important it is for young people to put theory into practice. There’s only so much you can learn in a classroom – true growth happens when you’re out in the real world, solving real problems. We’ve created an environment here that encourages curiosity, champions dedication, and gives students the space to build confidence and skill through hands-on experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that spark when someone realises they’re capable of more than they thought.”

This initiative reflects PSA Prime Marine’s enduring dedication to service quality, professional development, and the long-term sustainability of the UK marine industry.
