Shane-Daniel North, the founder of Eradikil UK Ltd, is using his passion for animals and the environment to reshape how the UK handles pest control—placing bees at the centre of his mission.
Since launching Eradikil in 2022, Shane has focused on doing pest control differently. Based in Oxfordshire, his company avoids extermination and instead promotes ethical, environmentally responsible solutions—especially in the face of declining bee populations.
Bee hive removals don’t come cheap. They can cost anywhere from £500 to £10,000 due to the need for access equipment and structural repairs. Because of this, many opt for quicker, cheaper extermination methods.
But as Shane warns, that decision can have far-reaching consequences.
“Destroying a hive doesn’t just eliminate one colony, it risks poisoning other bee populations,” said Shane.
“Bees are natural scavengers. If honey contaminated with insecticide is left behind, nearby colonies may steal it, causing secondary die-offs. Worse still, this honey can then enter the human food chain.”
With nearly a decade in the industry and a commitment to preservation, Shane has only ever used chemical methods twice—and only in cases where human life was at immediate risk, under strict professional guidance.
To help make ethical hive removals more affordable, Shane has launched a GoFundMe project called Help Me Help The Bees. Public donations help subsidise removal costs, and every rescue is documented on Eradikil’s YouTube channel, @EradikilPestControl, to inform and inspire others.
The bees are then safely relocated to Eradikil’s own apiary, where they continue to pollinate and thrive.
“I believe in solving pest issues through sustainable methods, not destruction,” Shane said. “This campaign is about giving people a better option.”
Shane’s interest in wildlife began at a young age, but his road to success wasn’t smooth. Diagnosed later in life with ADHD and dyslexia, he struggled in school and cycled through over two dozen jobs before discovering pest control—a field that allowed his skills and values to align.
“People often ask how I can be a pest controller if I love animals so much,” he reflects. “The answer is simple; my job is to control, not destroy.”
Now, with a growing team and expanding service area, Shane has set his sights on the future. He hopes to hire a full-time content creator, double the size of his operations, and eventually open a centre dedicated to bee education and conservation.
“Every animal and insect plays a role in our ecosystem,” Shane says. “Bees are irreplaceable. If we lose them, we lose far more than honey, we lose the very foundation of our food systems. I want to leave a legacy of sustainable practice and education.”
As Eradikil UK Ltd grows beyond Oxfordshire, Shane’s vision is fast becoming a beacon for eco-conscious pest control nationwide.
