The Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers (CIBD) has announced the launch of a new self-assessed and on demand technical course – Packaging for Brewers. This course, developed in collaboration with experienced brewers, packaging professionals, and suppliers of packaging materials and equipment, aims to provide brewers with the necessary knowledge and skills for working effectively with a packaging operation.
The Packaging for Brewers course is the latest addition to the CIBD’s popular series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses. It is open to brewers of all levels, from small craft breweries to larger commercial operations, and covers a range of topics including packaging materials, packaging operations, and maintaining the quality of beer in packaging. The course also emphasizes the importance of cost-effective and sustainable packaging practices.
Stuart Howe, Technical Development Manager at the CIBD, highlights the significance of effective packaging in the brewing industry, stating, “Our success as brewers is usually determined as much by the quality of our packaging, as it is by our skill as a brewer. Effective packaging enhances our reputation. Bad packaging destroys it.” He goes on to explain that the Packaging for Brewers course will equip learners with the necessary knowledge to ensure their packaging is always effective.
The course is designed to provide the same level of technical excellence found in all CIBD qualifications, without the need for a formal exam. It includes a downloadable PDF with technical information, such as a detailed summary of the course content and troubleshooting tips for beer in packaging. The course also features engaging text, videos, animations, quizzes, and games to enhance the learning experience. Upon completion, learners receive a Certificate of Completion.
The Packaging for Brewers course is now available through the CIBD website and can be accessed on demand. The CIBD, known as the most widely recognized provider of technical education in the brewing industry, aims to continue providing valuable resources and education to brewers through courses like Packaging for Brewers.
