A new documentary revisiting one of Britain’s most enigmatic UFO incidents is turning heads for reasons beyond its investigative content.
The Rendlesham UFO: The British Roswell will have its premiere on 24 June 2025 at London’s prestigious Raindance Film Festival, providing a fresh perspective on the infamous 1980 Rendlesham Forest encounter — widely referred to as “Britain’s Roswell” and regarded as one of the most credible UFO cases in UK history.
But what is truly capturing attention is not just the documentary’s meticulous research, but the growing number of early viewers reporting bizarre and unexplained occurrences after watching the film.
Accounts from these viewers include sightings of strange glowing lights, unexplained disruptions to electronic devices, and unsettling sensations of being observed — with some even alleging that UFOs were spotted near their homes in the hours following a screening.
The film, narrated by The X-Files’ William B. Davis (the “Smoking Man”), is directed by Mark Christopher Lee and Guy Thompson. Their investigation features interviews with military personnel, ufologists, and consciousness researchers, all aimed at uncovering new insights into the decades-old mystery.
In a bold move, the filmmakers also document their attempt at a CE5 session — a method where participants attempt to initiate contact with non-human intelligence through meditation and focused intention. The footage from this session appears to capture unexplained aerial activity.
Director Mark Christopher Lee remarked on the reactions:
“We started getting reports from viewers—strange lights, power surges, orbs, and even sightings of unidentified craft—within 24 hours of watching. It’s eerie, but deeply intriguing. We never anticipated the film itself might become part of the phenomenon.”
The premiere event will include a live Q&A with both directors. Audience members will be invited to share any unusual experiences or impressions, and are encouraged to bring smartphones, cameras, and most importantly — an open mind.
