On Friday, June 20, 2025, the Bron Yr Aur Creative Micronation officially announced the formation of its nation, marking a historic milestone for the project. After years of planning and preparation, the micronation will begin onboarding a limited number of Founding Citizens starting on June 21st.
Bron Yr Aur has a rich history in the music world, serving as a source of inspiration for the iconic band Led Zeppelin during a reflective period. The location’s influence can even be heard in one of the band’s tracks, “Bron-Yr-Aur” from their album Physical Graffiti. In recent years, Bron Yr Aur has continued to be a hub for creativity, hosting international retreats, cultural residencies, and collaborative works involving nearly 50 artists from around the world.
However, Bron Yr Aur is more than just a micronation. It is a global bilingual movement rooted in the ancient landscape of Wales and guided by the Three Pillars of Creativity, Sustainability, and Well-being. The project aims to foster meaningful connections, preserve artistic legacies, and inspire new ideas and visions for society.
The first wave of 500 Founding Citizens will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this new nation. They will have the opportunity to participate in cultural retreats, global partnerships, an artist-in-residence program, a creative prescription scheme, and a physical embassy venue in Machynlleth, Wales, with plans for additional embassies around the world.
Interested individuals can apply for citizenship starting on the Summer Solstice, June 21st, on the Bron Yr Aur website (www.bronyraur.com). Early access will be granted to the first 100 applicants out of the 500 available spots for Founding Citizens.
