Ambitious reforestation goal to offset 1,000 tonnes of carbon emissions
Pavegen, the innovative cleantech leader, has announced the launch of its next equity crowdfunding campaign, coinciding with a trio of immersive installations across London.
Running under the banner “Step Up for Climate Change”, the campaign sees Pavegen’s pioneering kinetic floors installed at 22 Bishopsgate, Old Spitalfields Market and Wimbledon, inviting the public to generate power through walking. For every 200 footsteps, Pavegen — in collaboration with Evergreen — will plant one tree. The campaign aims to plant enough trees to cover the area of Wimbledon’s Centre Court, helping offset nearly 1,000 tonnes of carbon over their lifetime.
Whether it’s commuters in the city, market-goers or tennis spectators, everyone will have a chance to contribute to climate action by simply stepping on Pavegen’s energy tiles. These steps produce data and clean power, visualised in real time to demonstrate their impact.
Features of the installations include:
-
Real-time kinetic energy floors lighting up interactive LEDs
-
A data dashboard and LED display tracking trees and kilowatts generated
-
Dynamic signage and animations to engage and inform
-
QR codes linking to live tree maps and crowdfund information
-
Trees planted through Evertreen in global reforestation areas
The newly launched crowdfund will propel Pavegen’s expansion within the global smart city sector, funding continued innovation in AI-powered analytics and hybrid energy solutions. With the market valued in trillions, Pavegen is aiming to scale up deployment in flagship infrastructure developments worldwide.
“Our mission has always been to transform how our cities harness renewable energy and empower communities through the power of a human footstep…”
— Laurence Kemball-Cook, CEO and Founder, Pavegen
The crowdfunding campaign is open to public investors, who will join a prominent group including Hinduja Group and Tamar Capital. Pavegen’s partners already include organisations such as Intel, Network Rail, Ford, and governments in the US and Saudi Arabia.
The campaign will be live on Crowdcube from 30th June to 14th July, with early access available from 25th June via:
