In a bid to find their perfect match, rescue dogs are transformed into fashion models for a day.

12 rescue dogs become top models in campaign for Manchester clothing brand

12 lucky rescue dogs have been chosen as top models in a new campaign for Manchester based clothing brand Uskees, in partnership with local rescue organization Dogs 4 Rescue.

In a unique fashion shoot, the human models were joined by their canine partners from Dogs 4 Rescue to showcase the dogs’ personalities and highlight the importance of adopting rescue dogs.

Emma Billington, founder of Dogs 4 Rescue, explained the motivation behind the campaign: “We are always trying to change the perception of rescue dogs as many people still opt to pay thousands of pounds to a breeder when there are thousands of perfectly rehomeable and often young, healthy dogs available in rescues.”

The campaign aims to showcase the happy, healthy, and well-behaved nature of rescue dogs, in the hopes of encouraging more people to adopt rather than shop for their next pet.

Wayne Fearnley, Brand Lead from Uskees, shared the brand’s philosophy behind the campaign: “Our clothing brand is all about encouraging a stronger and longer lasting relationship between people and their garments, and so we thought it would be a great fit to help these dogs find their forever family to create that strong, lasting relationship with.”

The theme of the campaign is “dog shows,” challenging old stereotypes of what a “best in breed” or “best in show” should look like. The message behind it is that everyone can find their own perfect rescue dog – one that matches their energy, vibe, and lifestyle.

One of the models, Bonny, a 3-year-old Spitz cross, was left abandoned in a house and taken to a council pound. Having regained her confidence at the rescue, she was the perfect princess, relishing in all the pampering and looking like a prom queen. Bonny would do best in a quieter home.

Peppa, a 7-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, came into Dogs 4 Rescue’s care after her owner passed away. Described as “a real diamond of a dog,” she is incredibly loving and sees herself as a lap dog. Peppa loves everyone she meets and will give her heart completely.

According to the founder of Dogs 4 Rescue, there are currently almost 50 dogs available for adoption. She explained the reasons behind the high number of dogs in need of a forever home, citing a “perfect storm” of factors such as lockdowns, financial struggles, and the continuing breeding of dogs.

The team at Dogs 4 Rescue works tirelessly to find the best homes for their dogs, offering a full one-month trial before finalizing the adoption to ensure the perfect fit.

About Dogs 4 Rescue

Dogs 4 Rescue is the UK’s pioneering, kennel-free dog rescue based in Manchester, dedicated to rescuing dogs facing euthanasia and helping problem cases from other UK rescues. Instead of being confined to kennels, the dogs live happily as a pack until they find their forever homes. They have no idea they are homeless and live, eat, sleep, and play together, preventing loneliness, kennel-stress, and separation anxiety. The organization also offers lifetime rescue back-up and has successfully rehomed over 2,700 dogs since forming in 2013.
