The M R Scaffolding and I See Apps Charity Golf Day Raises Over £55,000 for Legacy Youth Zone

Legacy Youth Zone, a youth center located in Croydon, is pleased to announce that they raised an impressive £55,937 at the M R Scaffolding and I See Apps Golf Day. The event, held on June 25, 2025 at The Addington Golf Course, was organized in partnership with Trustees of the charity, Indy Chatwal and John Trayfoot. The day brought together supporters, businesses, and friends of the Youth Zone for a day of golf, entertainment, and fundraising to support the vital work Legacy does with young people in the community.

One of the highlights of the day was the generous £20,000 match fund donation from Ryan Noades, Managing Director of The Addington Golf Club. This donation played a significant role in the day’s success. Attendees were also treated to a motivating speech and performance by Levi Roots, a proud advocate of the charity. Roots, who recently mentioned in an Instagram Reel how excited he was to get involved with Legacy, was joined by Jason Perry, Mayor of Croydon.

Legacy Youth Zone is part of the national OnSide Network of Youth Zones, providing a safe and inspiring space for young people aged 8-19 (or up to 25 with additional needs). With a membership fee of just £5 per year and 50p per visit, members have access to a wide range of activities, including a gym, recording studio, cookery room, and art spaces, all within a supportive and inclusive environment.

The majority of Legacy’s funding comes from generous donations, including corporate sponsors, private sector and philanthropic giving. This means that events like the M R Scaffolding and I See Apps Golf Day are not only enjoyable but also essential in keeping Legacy’s doors open and resources running for thousands of young people.

Indy Chatwal, Trustee of Legacy Youth Zone, said, “This day was about more than just golf. It was about giving back to the young people of Croydon. We’re blown away by the generosity shown, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again in 2026.”

Fellow Trustee John Trayfoot added, “Legacy Youth Zone is a lifeline for many young people. To see so many people come together to support our mission was incredibly moving.”

The funds raised at the event will go directly towards sustaining Legacy’s programs, maintaining its facilities, and providing young people in Croydon with the support, inspiration, and safe space that they deserve. With operating costs of around £1.5M per year, fundraising is crucial to the charity’s sustainability.
