The ANJOOL MALDE AWARDS 2025 recognizes eighteen impressive individuals as winners.

ANJOOL MALDE AWARDS 2025 – EIGHTEEN IMPRESSIVE INDIVIDUALS ANNOUNCED AS WINNERS

The prestigious Anjool Malde Awards, set up in 2010 as a legacy to Anjool Malde (1984-2009), also known as Jools, has announced its winners for 2025. The Trust recognizes and celebrates the achievements of young individuals in the UK who have a special edge to their accomplishments. The Awards encourage these individuals to “do well, do good” in their lives and careers.

The awards are distributed across six categories, and this year’s winners are a group of eighteen impressive individuals who have shown outstanding talent, innovation, and social responsibility in their respective fields.

INNOVATION & ENTERPRISE – Anjool Maldé Young Innovator Award (Hosts: RSA)

The Anjool Malde Young Innovator Award, in partnership with the RSA, recognizes and celebrates young individuals who have made significant contributions in the field of innovation and enterprise. This year’s winner is Casta Schaebbicke for her submission, Biotherm, a sustainable insulation solution using Phase Change Materials (PCMs) made from waste streams like used cooking oil, paraffin, and beeswax.

The runner-ups for this award were Hanna Cox, Charlotte Carla, and Diana Jorge for their submission, Hot Air Company. This team has developed a system that turns residual data center heat into revenue by powering modular bioreactor units used in biotech.

Speaking on the partnership with the RSA, Jo Choukeir, Director of Design and Innovation, said, “The RSA is very proud of our partnership with the Anjool Malde Memorial Trust, recognizing two exceptional young RSA Spark participants whose ideas demonstrate viable opportunities for innovation to drive social and environmental impact. We wish the winners of the financial prizes the best of luck with their innovation journey.”

JOURNALISM – Anjool Maldé Journalism Award (Hosts: Film & Broadcast Production QUB, Belfast)

The Anjool Maldé Journalism Award, in partnership with the Film & Broadcast Production QUB, Belfast, recognizes and celebrates young journalists who have shown exceptional talent and passion for storytelling. This year’s winners are a group of students from QUB, Oisín-Thomás Reilly, Jonathan Braniff, Kat Mrozek, Marc Graham, Michael McChrystal, and Ryan Martin, for their documentary ‘Beyond Words.’ The film explores the creative journeys of two artists with disabilities and reflects on how art and music can transcend barriers and challenge societal prejudices.

For Oisín-Thomás Reilly, the Director and Choreographer of ‘Beyond Words,’ winning this award is a significant milestone in his university journey. He said, “It is an absolute privilege that our film has won the Anjool Malde Journalism Award. I created this documentary, alongside a great team, because as a disabled filmmaker, I was deeply passionate about exploring the connection between disability and art. This win gives me increased confidence and inspiration as I continue to tell stories through documentary filmmaking and journalism.”

MUSIC – Anjool Maldé Jazz Prize (Hosts: Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff – RWCMD)

The Anjool Malde Jazz Prize, in partnership with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD), recognizes and celebrates exceptional talent in the field of Jazz. This year’s winner is Cameron Saint, a Jazz and Double Bass student at RWCMD. Cameron has been described by his professors as an outstanding student and musician, with unrelenting energy, positivity, and pro-action.

For Cameron, winning this award means a lot, and he expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to receive the Anjool Malde Jazz Prize 2025. This award will significantly help me to develop my practice further, contributing towards the funding of my Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London, which I begin in September.”

PHOTOGRAPHY – Anjool Maldé Photography Award (Hosts: Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland)

The Anjool Malde Photography Award, in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, recognizes and celebrates exceptional talent in the field of photography. This year’s winner is Levente Hegedus for his portfolio ‘Haza.’ ‘Haza’ is a documentary project that explores the cultural and political divisions within contemporary Hungary. Levente’s work offers a nuanced and personal perspective on national identity.

Dr. Emile Shemilt, Programme Leader for Photography at Edinburgh Napier University, said, “The Anjool Malde Young Photographer of the Year Award is quickly becoming a very meaningful part of our Degree Show. While still in its early years here at Edinburgh Napier, it already holds real significance
