ACAA to Host Conference on Arts, Culture, and Humanitarian Issues in Afghanistan

FELTHAM – The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) will be hosting a two-day conference in Feltham on 15 and 16 August 2025 to mark four years since the fall of Kabul. The event, which will take place at the Griffin Centre’s Ferdowsi Hall, will focus on arts, culture, and humanitarian issues affecting Afghanistan.

The first day of the conference will feature cultural programmes, including Afghan music, poetry, and visual arts, aimed at bringing together newly arrived Afghan diaspora members with established communities in the UK and Europe. The second day will focus on humanitarian challenges in Afghanistan, with panel discussions and a roundtable on diaspora-led support and international cooperation.

Speakers at the conference will include Afghan diaspora representatives, UK policymakers, civil society leaders, academics, journalists, and international organisations. Dr. Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE HonDSS, founder and chief executive of ACAA, will provide reflections during the roundtable session.

The panels will cover topics such as “Arts and Culture as a Bridge to Unity,” “Understanding Local Needs: Voices from Afghanistan and the Diaspora,” and “The Afghan Humanitarian Crisis and Diaspora Engagement.” The roundtable session will focus on collaboration between diaspora organisations and humanitarian agencies, as well as policy advocacy in support of Afghanistan.

The conference is sponsored by Diaspora Emergency Danish Action & Coordination (DEMAC), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Attendees will also be treated to free Afghan food and music.

Tickets for the conference can be obtained through Eventbrite, with separate bookings for each day. Interested individuals can book their free tickets through the following links:
