“Vintage 1952 Gibson from Nashville inspires Boohai’s follow-up single in Machynlleth”

Bron Yr Aur Beats, a new independent record label based in Machynlleth, is set to release the upcoming single “We Build These Mountains” by artist Boohai on October 31st, 2025. The single, which features a vintage 1952 Gibson guitar borrowed from Grammy-winning artist Chance McCoy, is a stripped-back and soulful track that highlights Boohai’s roots as a singer-songwriter.

The connection between Boohai and McCoy goes back decades, as their bands crossed paths in the late 1990s while playing the London circuit. McCoy, who hails from the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, has produced a number of acclaimed acts in his new studio, including Boohai’s latest single.

Boohai, who previously released the sprawling supergroup album “Entropy for Beginners” last summer, found inspiration for “We Build These Mountains” in the vintage Gibson guitar. “That Gibson had a sound unlike anything I’d played before, and it arrived at exactly the right moment,” says Boohai. “As soon as I picked it up, the song just poured out in one take – raw, lo-fi, and a total contrast to the multi-layered world of Entropy for Beginners.”

The single is also a reunion of sorts for Boohai and Bill Coyne, formerly of Welsh band Murry the Hump, who provides rhythmic textures on the track. The two bands had crossed paths multiple times in the late 1990s and were central to the Cool Cymru movement alongside Super Furry Animals, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, and Catatonia.

“We Build These Mountains” is not only a return to Boohai’s roots, but also marks the first release on Bron Yr Aur Beats, a label dedicated to supporting distinctive and independent voices in music. The label was founded in Machynlleth and aims to foster future collaborations between artists.

The single will be available for pre-order on streaming and digital platforms, and Boohai’s website and Instagram (@i_am_boohai) will have updates on the release. For more information, visit www.bronyraur.com.
