Cambridge Literary Festival Announces Winter Edition Lineup
Cambridge Literary Festival, one of the UK’s most prestigious literary events, is back with its winter edition. The festival, known for its star-studded lineup of literary heavyweights, will take place from November 1st to 10th.
Among the highlights of the festival are acclaimed novelists Zadie Smith and Ian McEwan, Mick Herron of Slow Horses fame, Katie Piper, and John Cleese, marking 50 years since Fawlty Towers graced our TV screens. The festival will also feature talks from former First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, veteran news presenter John Suchet, and international barrister Philippe Sands.
Zadie Smith, who makes a welcome return to the festival, will discuss her latest collection of essays, Dead and Alive. Meanwhile, Nicola Sturgeon will engage in a conversation with fellow Scot and Festival Honorary Patron Ali Smith. Mick Herron, who has been eagerly awaited by fans, will make his debut at the festival with the next installment in his Slough House series.
Other notable names on the lineup include renowned poet Wendy Cope, BBC’s Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet, and former President of the Supreme Court Lady Hale. The festival will also feature talks from scientists, journalists, and crime writers, making it a diverse and exciting event for book lovers.
The festival’s always enlightening Cambridge Series will welcome two eminent academics, Bonnie Lander Johnson and Partha Dasgupta. Johnson will discuss her book Vanishing Landscapes, which explores our disconnection from nature and offers hope for the future. Dasgupta will present his latest work, On Natural Capital, which argues for the integration of economics and ecology to preserve the natural world.
The festival will also feature talks from local writers, including Megan Hunter, whose latest novel Days of Light has received critical acclaim. The festival’s box office opens on September 8th, and tickets can be purchased on their website.
