“Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of World Animal Day by Contributing a Meal to Animals in Need”

Animal lovers around the world are gearing up to celebrate the 100th anniversary of World Animal Day on October 4th, and one charity is urging the public to make a difference by participating in their ‘Donate a Dinner’ campaign.

Naturewatch Foundation, a Cheltenham-based animal welfare charity, is coordinating World Animal Day globally. To kick off the centenary celebrations, they have already donated 100 dinners to Vale Wildlife Hospital, which provides care for injured and orphaned wildlife.

With rescue and rehoming centers struggling to keep up with the increasing number of abandoned animals, community support has become crucial.

Sarah Carr, CEO of Naturewatch Foundation and coordinator of World Animal Day, said, “World Animal Day on October 4th is the biggest day of the year for animals, and this year is extra special as we celebrate its centenary. Donating a dinner is such a simple but powerful way to show kindness. Every meal donated helps an animal in need and supports the incredible people who care for them.”

In honor of the 100th anniversary, the charity is encouraging the public to get involved and make a difference in the lives of animals in need. There are several ways to participate in the ‘Donate a Dinner’ campaign, including dropping off food donations at a local rescue center, purchasing items from their Amazon Wishlist, or donating the cost of a meal through their website.

Natalie Gould, from Vale Wildlife Hospital, expressed her gratitude for being chosen as a recipient of support during the ‘Donate a Dinner’ campaign. She said, “With over 8,000 British wildlife casualties coming through our doors annually, food costs for the charity are exceptionally high. The ‘Donate a Dinner’ campaign is a fantastic way to support animal charities, and your support means we can feed more sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. Thank you, from all at Vale Wildlife Hospital.”

Furthermore, Carr reminds the public that help is available for those who may be struggling to feed their own animal companions. Larger charities, such as the RSPCA, Blue Cross, and Dogs Trust, all have pet food banks to assist in keeping animals with their families during challenging times.

For those who wish to further support World Animal Day, they can host an event, participate in the 100K Challenge, or pledge an act of kindness towards animals. More information and resources can be found on the World Animal Day website at worldanimalday.org.uk.
