“Futura®100: A Renowned Typography Icon Revamped for Worldwide Brands by TypeTogether Typeface Foundry”

TypeTogether, an independent type foundry, announced the release of Futura®100 on Monday, September 29, 2025 in Prague, Czech Republic. This extensive typeface family is a tribute to the iconic typeface Futura® designed by Paul Renner, which embodies European optimism from the early 20th century.

The project, which took two years to complete, showcases the expertise and best practices of TypeTogether’s international team of specialists and researchers. They have not only focused on type design and typography, but also on linguistics, semantics, and graphic design. The main goal of Futura®100 is to reflect global language and script diversity, featuring 23 scripts and providing language support for more than 90% of the world’s population.

In collaboration with Bauer Types type foundry, TypeTogether conducted extensive research at various cultural institutions to accurately revive and honor Renner’s original intention with the design. Veronika Burian, the co-founder and type director at TypeTogether, shared her experience with the original Futura® prints in a press release, stating, “When I examined the original Futura® letterpress prints at six point size, the experience profoundly changed my perception of the family because I was struck by how beautiful and legible the typeface was.”

While remaining faithful to the constructed shapes and warm spirit of the original typeface, Futura®100 also meets the complex needs of multiscript branding. It has been optimized for readability, worldwide usability, and flexibility across a variety of devices and media. The project is comprised of two phases, with the first phase already released, featuring script support for Arabic, Armenian, Cyrillic, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Khmer, Lao, Latin, Myanmar, PanAfrican Latin, and Thai. The project is set to be completed by the end of 2026, with support also provided for major Indic scripts, Simplified Chinese, and Hangul. This will make Futura®100 one of the few truly global typefaces, making it a great fit for designers, agencies, and brands with multinational commitments.

José Scaglione, the co-founder of TypeTogether, expressed their vision for Futura®100, stating, “Futura® stands as the progenitor of geometric sans serifs – an iconic design that was remarkable for its era. With Futura®100, we push its typographic boundaries into the new millennium.” He added, “Futura®100 emerges from the collaboration of global voices, designed for the exchanges among them. It is a product of multicultural synergy, not just a response to it.”

TypeTogether was established in 2006 by Veronika Burian and José Scaglione, and has since become an award-winning, independent type foundry. They create innovative solutions to the greatest problems in the professional typography market worldwide. Their multiscript font families currently span 14 global scripts and hundreds of languages, and have been implemented by leading brands such as Apple Inc., Siemens, Vivo, Geely Auto, and Google. The co-founders have built a truly multinational and multilingual network of type designers, type and language experts, with the primary goal of understanding and connecting disparate linguistic and cultural systems through typography.
