University of Vienna Ranks Among Top 100 Universities Worldwide
Vienna, Austria – The University of Vienna has made a significant leap in this year’s THE World University Rankings, moving up from rank 110 to 95. This marks the first time an Austrian university has been listed among the top 100 universities in the world. The university has achieved this feat by excelling in the categories of research, internationalization, teaching, and industry engagement, despite facing tough competition from other global institutions.
Rector Sebastian Schütze attributes this achievement to the university’s long-term strategic focus on establishing itself as a leading international institution. “This excellent ranking result is a testament to our commitment to providing excellence in teaching and research across various disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and life sciences. It also serves as a boost to our efforts in internationalization and recruitment,” says Schütze.
Continuous Upward Trend – Improvement by 70 Places Since 2018
The University of Vienna has made consistent improvements in its rankings over the years, despite facing stiff competition. In 2018, it was ranked 165th among 1,103 universities, and this year it has climbed to 95th among 2,191 universities worldwide. In just seven years, the university has improved by an impressive 70 positions.
University of Vienna Scores High in International Orientation
The University of Vienna has received high scores in the category of international orientation, which includes factors such as the proportion of international researchers, students, and publications. It has also performed exceptionally well in terms of research quality, with a high number of highly cited journals.
