Age Concern Hampshire has launched a Christmas campaign aimed at supporting older individuals during the winter season.

Age Concern Hampshire Launches Annual Christmas Campaign to Support Older People

Southampton, UK – Age Concern Hampshire, a charity dedicated to supporting older people in the county, has announced the launch of its annual Christmas campaign, “Past, Present, and Future”. The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for three key challenges faced by older people during the winter season: winter pressures, falls, and isolation and loneliness.

According to the charity, winter can be a particularly difficult time for older people. In response, Age Concern Hampshire is addressing these challenges by providing essential support and services to older residents. This includes helping them access financial support, such as assistance with benefit applications for heating and fuel costs, through their Information Service.

Fall prevention is also a crucial focus for the charity. Through its Care and Wellbeing Centres and Foot Care clinics, Age Concern Hampshire helps older people maintain their mobility, manage foot health, and reduce the risk of accidents. These services not only protect physical wellbeing but also contribute to independence and confidence at home.

The charity’s Christmas campaign also addresses the issue of isolation and loneliness, which can intensify during the holiday season. Support is available at the Care and Wellbeing Centres, or through assistance in the home via the Help at Home service. In addition, practical support and social groups help older people stay connected, engaged, and supported throughout the winter.

Volunteers play a crucial role in Age Concern Hampshire’s work, providing companionship and practical support to older people in the community. The charity is always looking for new volunteers to join their team, and anyone interested can find out more by visiting their website at ageconcernhampshire.org.uk/volunteer-hampshire/give-time-by-volunteering.

In addition to volunteers, Age Concern Hampshire is also inviting donations from individuals and corporate supporters. These contributions help fund essential services and allow the charity to respond flexibly to the evolving needs of older people in the county.
