Street Soccer Foundation Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary with National Legacy Cup 2025 Event

The Street Soccer Foundation has announced the highly anticipated launch of its National Street Soccer Legacy Cup 2025, to celebrate a decade of impact in transforming the lives of vulnerable young people through football. The event will take place on Friday 12 December 2025 at the Derby Racecourse venue.

Approximately 150 young people from Street Soccer Academy programmes across the country will come together to compete in a national 5-a-side tournament, representing the professional Club Community Organisation that hosted their Academy. These young men and women have all completed the charity’s flagship 12-week personal development and employability programme, using football as a catalyst for positive change.

The Street Soccer Academy programme supports young people aged 18-30 who have experienced homelessness, been at risk of becoming homeless, or faced significant personal challenges such as unemployment, mental health struggles, or trauma. Through football, the programme aims to build confidence, motivation, resilience, and positive mindsets, while also helping participants transition into work, education, or further training.

The event is expected to garner national attention, with Sky Sports in attendance to cover the tournament. Global sports brand New Balance will also be present, gifting every participant a brand-new pair of football boots. This generous gesture is made possible with the support of New Balance athlete Bukayo Saka.

In addition to the tournament, the Street Soccer Foundation will also unveil its new official logo, marking a full-circle moment for the charity’s Founder and CEO, former Charlton, Millwall, and Gillingham footballer Keith Mabbutt. Mabbutt launched the charity in 2015 with the belief that football could transform young lives, and the Legacy Cup is a testament to a decade of growth, impact, and commitment to supporting vulnerable young people nationwide.

The event is proudly supported by the Foundation’s corporate campaign, The Big Goal, which aims to mobilise UK businesses to help eradicate youth homelessness. Through corporate membership, companies directly fund Street Soccer Academy delivery across the country, enabling hundreds of young people each year to access life-changing support.

The Foundation is inviting businesses across the UK to join The Big Goal ahead of the 31 December 2025 deadline for the 2026 campaign. Existing corporate members and supporters are also warmly welcomed to attend the National Street Soccer Legacy Cup.

Founder and CEO Keith Mabbutt commented, “The Legacy Cup is a celebration of young people, resilience, and the power of football to inspire positive change. This event embodies the heart of the Foundation, offering young people an unforgettable experience and a platform for transformation.”

The Legacy Cup is expected to be a powerful and uplifting event, reflecting the Foundation’s mission and showcasing the continued support of club partners, sponsors, and businesses committed to changing young lives through football.
