Cheltenham-based battery manufacturer, Mark Millar, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year for the second year in a row at the prestigious Great British Entrepreneur Awards (GBEA) 2025.
Puredrive Energy, headed by CEO Mark Millar, took home the award for Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year at the GBEA ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week. This marks Mark’s second consecutive win at the GBEA, solidifying his position as one of the UK’s top entrepreneurs in the clean-tech and manufacturing sectors.
Known as “The Grammys for Entrepreneurship,” the GBEA celebrates the remarkable stories of entrepreneurial success, perseverance, and vision. It is the biggest celebration of founders and their businesses in the UK, shining a spotlight on individuals and businesses driving innovation, creating jobs, and shaping the future of the UK economy.
Puredrive Energy, a family-run start-up with four employees, originated in Gloucestershire and has now grown to become the UK’s fastest-growing home battery manufacturer. With over 400 active installers across the UK and Europe, the company is best known for its high-performance Duracell Energy home storage systems, designed in the UK.
In 2022, Puredrive secured a brand licence to manufacture, market, and distribute Duracell-branded home energy storage products. This partnership has allowed the business to scale rapidly while supporting thousands of UK homeowners in storing low-cost, renewable energy to reduce both bills and carbon emissions. Today, the company exclusively supplies Duracell Energy storage products, solidifying its commitment to quality and reliability.
According to the GBEA judges, Puredrive’s identity as a true family business sets it apart in the energy sector. Mark leads the company alongside his two sons, Oliver and Daniel, who hold the positions of Head of Marketing and Head of Sales, respectively. Their shared vision has fostered a culture of resilience, innovation, and agility within the company. These qualities have proven essential, particularly during a year marked by industry-wide economic, political, and environmental pressures.
Despite facing challenges that have forced several competitors to downsize or exit the market, Puredrive has continued to thrive, increasing its market share and achieving significant revenue growth. The company credits its success to its ability to quickly adapt to shifting demand and global logistics uncertainty, which is crucial for a business operating across the UK, Europe, and South Africa.
This latest award follows a string of recognition for Puredrive in 2025, including being named a finalist at the Gloucestershire Business Awards and winning two UK Contact Centre Forum awards for excellence in customer service.
Commenting on the win, Mark Millar, CEO of Puredrive Energy, said: “This award is a significant achievement for our family team. We have always believed that focus, adaptability, and a drive for improvement lead to success, even in a challenging year like this one. What truly matters is that we are helping more homeowners take control of their energy and become more self-sufficient. This recognition is a testament to our efforts, and we are excited to continue building, improving, and supporting those who want a cleaner and more reliable way to power their homes.”
Looking ahead, Puredrive is preparing for a landmark year, with a projected 50% increase in business. The company is also set to launch a new generation of energy storage products and expand its operations in the Benelux region, further cementing its position as a leader in the European energy storage market.
