The community of Wimborne comes together to raise an impressive £2,200 for the Allendale Community Centre, showcasing their festive spirit.

The festive season in Wimborne kicked off with a display of generosity, creativity, and community spirit as two sold-out Christmas Wreath Making Workshops were held at the Allendale Community Centre on the 26th and 28th of November, 2025. The workshops, which brought together over 60 participants, raised an impressive £2,200 to support the Allendale, a beloved charity at the heart of the town.

The events were entirely sponsored by Poole & Wimborne Woodland Burial Ground, who provided all the natural materials, decorative items, and tools. Leading the workshops was Karen Hill, a burial ground consultant and qualified florist, who generously gave her time, expertise, and warm encouragement to guide participants in creating their own beautiful natural wreaths.

Karen Hill expressed her joy at being a part of the workshops, saying, “You could feel the joy in the room. People came to create something lovely, but they also came to support a place that genuinely matters. It was wonderful to be a part of.” All funds raised from the workshops will directly benefit the Allendale Community Centre charity, helping it continue to provide safe, welcoming, and essential services to the community.

The Allendale is more than just a venue; it is a hub of belonging that tackles social isolation and supports some of the most vulnerable people in the area. Carole Chedgy, Vice Chair and Trustee, explained, “What we do here is about belonging. This fundraiser helps us remain a place where everyone, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance, can feel safe, supported, and part of the community.”

Participants of the workshops described the experience as “magical,” “uplifting,” and “the perfect way to start Christmas.” Many have already inquired about the possibility of the event returning next year.
