Ceangail CIC has received National Lottery funding to expand their digital media training offerings throughout the Forth Valley region.

Ceangail CIC, a social enterprise based in Stirling, has recently received National Lottery Community Funding for the expansion of its digital media training program through its My Scotland project. This funding will allow Ceangail to provide practical digital skills training to young people aged 16 and over across the Forth Valley region.

The My Scotland project focuses on working directly with groups of young people to promote a local attraction in their community. Through hands-on experience in digital media production, including photography, film, storytelling, and promotion, participants gain valuable skills while creating something that adds value to their community.

Ceangail’s approach to training is practical and market-oriented, with a focus on learning by doing. Participants are given ownership and accountability within their steering group and work within clear frameworks and briefs. This not only builds digital skills but also helps develop confidence, teamwork, and employability skills, creating a pathway to further learning, volunteering, or employment.

The funding from the National Lottery will allow Ceangail to expand its reach beyond Stirling and increase its capacity to deliver the My Scotland program across the Forth Valley. This investment will support program design, delivery, and partnership working to ensure the training remains relevant, accessible, and focused on outcomes.

Matt McGrandles, Ceangail’s Executive Director, expressed his gratitude for the funding, stating that it will allow for sustainable growth and delivery discipline. He also highlighted the success of the My Scotland project in combining skills development with place-based promotion, with previous participants expressing their love for the program. This funding will now allow Ceangail to reach more young people and make a measurable impact on communities.

The National Lottery raises funds for good causes across the UK, allowing organizations like Ceangail to invest in people, skills, and local assets. This award recognizes the value of practical, community-led training that benefits both individuals and society as a whole.

Over the next two years, Ceangail CIC will roll out the expanded My Scotland program across the Forth Valley. Any groups interested in finding out more and securing a training program can contact Ceangail at office@ceangail.org for further details.
