Liverpool-based Italian restaurant Neapolitan, ranked number one on TripAdvisor for both pizza and Italian dining in the city, was recently chosen to cater for Real Madrid’s first team following their Champions League clash with Liverpool FC.
The order consisted of 45 pizzas, all prepared from scratch at Neapolitan’s Lime Street location. Each pizza was hand-stretched, topped with premium ingredients and cooked in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven before being delivered within a 50-minute timeframe.
Representatives from Real Madrid made contact two weeks prior to the fixture, carrying out detailed checks on preparation methods, ingredient sourcing and cooking processes. After careful consideration, Neapolitan was selected ahead of all other Italian restaurants in Liverpool.
“It was a huge honour to be selected by Real Madrid, who spent weeks preparing for their trip to Liverpool. They are one of the biggest sporting brands in the world, and the feedback we received from them was one of the highlights of our career so far,” said Lorraine, co-owner of Neapolitan.
The restaurant is run by Jamie and Lorraine, a husband-and-wife team whose focus on genuine Neapolitan pizza has earned wide recognition. Jamie’s expertise was recently acknowledged by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), which invited him to judge the UK Pizza Championships.
Neapolitan holds a unique position as Liverpool and Merseyside’s first and only independent pizzeria certified by AVPN, specialising in traditional wood-fired pizzas prepared in line with authentic Neapolitan standards.
Further recognition came when Neapolitan was awarded “Pizzeria of the Year 2025/26” for the North West by the Prestige Awards, highlighting its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Customers can observe the pizza-making process from the open kitchen, which spans the restaurant, or opt for an immersive dining experience at the Chef’s Table.
With a 4.9-star rating across review platforms and more than 4,000 positive reviews, Neapolitan has built a strong reputation for both food and service. The restaurant has also secured TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025, maintaining its status as Liverpool’s top Italian restaurant and pizza venue.

Neapolitan is located just two minutes from Liverpool Lime Street Station, with nearby parking at Bolton Street and St John’s Shopping Centre, and is open daily from 12:00.
