“The “Sovereign Europe Forum” to be Held for Promoting Self-Reliance and Self-Determination in Europe”

Entrepreneurs, top managers, and leaders from United Europe e.V. and European Forum Alpbach (EFA) have come together to found the Sovereign Europe Forum i.G. The forum, which aims to promote an empowered and self-determined Europe, is built upon the Munich Declaration 2025 presented and published at the Munich Security Conference in 2025. The next event will take place in February 2026 as an official side event of the Munich Security Conference at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich.

The Munich Declaration 2025, also available at www.munichdeclaration.org, highlights the existential task and capabilities of Europe to guarantee its security and values independently as the fourth world power. However, to do so, it urgently needs to integrate itself even more strongly in terms of defense, economics, and political technology.

“Sovereign Europe is the prerequisite for maintaining peace in freedom and the achievements and values of our European Union and its democratic culture,” says Martin A. Schoeller, family entrepreneur and co-initiator. “The European principle of peace in freedom is based on the systematic avoidance of abuse of power and the recognition of ALL existing state borders. This is the key to the success of the past 80 years.”

The forum, through a dialogue between politics, business, and experts, aims to contribute to the strategic and operational implementation of sovereignty through concrete proposals for measures. The founders of the Sovereign Europe Forum include entrepreneurs, business representatives, and political leaders such as Jürgen Großmann, founder of United Europe, Othmar Karas, President of the European Forum Alpbach, Antonella Mei-Pochtler, Vice President of the European Forum Alpbach, Klaus Regling, former Managing Director of the ESM, and Andreas Treichl, Chairman of the ERSTE Foundation in Austria and founder of Europe Future Initiative.

The forum emerged from the Europe Panel, which recommended a call for a European Defence Union and an agenda for competitiveness with politicians such as José Manuel Barroso, former President of the EU Commission, and EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, along with well-known business representatives.

The Munich Declaration 2025 was signed on 13 February 2025 at the “Europe Panel” in the Bayerischer Hof by José Manuel Barroso, Klaus Regling, André Loesekrug-Pietri, Othmar Karas, Antonella Mei-Pochtler, Andreas Treichl, and Martin A. Schoeller.
