SocialBox.Biz is urging businesses and organisations during Refugee Week to donate their old laptops and other tech devices to their Laptops for Homeless, Refugees, and Disadvantaged People initiative.

As Refugee Week approaches, SocialBox.Biz, a UK-based social enterprise, is preparing to commemorate the contributions, creativity, resilience and courage of refugees. SocialBox.Biz works to improve the lives of refugees, homeless people, and seniors in isolation by providing them with access to laptops.

Organisations and individuals can donate their old devices to help bridge the digital divide and provide access to technology and communication for those who are in need. SocialBox.Biz has been rehoming old but usable tech from companies, universities, and other large organisations and placing them in the hands of the disadvantaged in local UK communities for many years. By doing so, they are able to provide data removal services and load the technology with open source software.

Carolyn Williams, Social Impact Consultant for SocialBox.Biz, said: “We’ve done a lot, but we will do a lot more with the help of more partners.”

Furthermore, Peter Paduh, founder and Chairman of SocialBox.Biz, said: “As we mark Refugee Week, it’s important to remember that refugees are people just like us who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict or persecution. By donating your old no longer needed, yet still usable laptops and other tech, you can help to provide a lifeline for refugees and other disadvantaged people who are trying to rebuild their lives.”

SocialBox.Biz’s sustainable IT solutions and services extend the lifespan of laptops and computers, while also increasing the social impact and ESG scores for UK companies. Moreover, donated laptops help those in need connect with educational and career opportunities and provide them with a platform to communicate with friends and loved ones.
