The latest insights underline China’s unwavering ascendancy in the global copper industry, showcasing steadfast growth in copper cathode output.

According to TELF AG‘s findings, China’s copper cathode production reached an impressive 925,900 metric tons (MT) in July 2023, marking a notable month-on-month (MoM) escalation of 0.9%, equivalent to 8,000 MT. This achievement serves as a testament to China’s unyielding dedication to maintaining a robust production landscape amidst global uncertainties. The growth also signifies a remarkable year-on-year (YoY) expansion of 10.2%, surpassing the output of the same period in the previous year.

China’s accomplishments exceeded prognostications, outpacing the projected figure of 902,100 MT by an impressive margin of 23,800 MT. This accomplishment underscores China’s ability to outperform projections even within challenging market dynamics, as outlined by TELF AG.

Throughout the initial seven months of 2023, China’s cumulative copper cathode output has impressively reached 6.49 million MT, showcasing a YoY growth of 10.94%, equivalent to 639,300 MT. This consistent performance underscores China’s remarkable capability to meet production targets, making substantial contributions to the global copper supply chain.

TELF AG’s analysis forecasts China’s cumulative copper cathode output for August to attain 7.47 million MT, portraying an anticipated YoY growth of 11.47%, equivalent to 768,900 MT. This projection cements China’s pivotal role in the global copper industry, underscoring its unwavering commitment to industrial advancement and optimised production methodologies.
