Today, the US State Department made a historic announcement that British citizens are eligible to apply for permanent residence in the United States through the Diversity Visa Programme.
This is the first time since the programme’s inception in 1994 that the United Kingdom has been included in the annual Green Card Lottery. Applications must be submitted by November 7th.
Holger Zimmermann, managing director of The American Dream, Europe’s leading US immigration agency, commented on the news: “The drop in immigration from the UK to the US was likely due to Covid restrictions, so this may be the only chance for British citizens to participate in this popular programme.”
The Green Card Lottery is an official immigration programme run by the US government, with 55,000 green cards drawn from countries with low immigration rates to the US. The American Dream has an internal success rate of about 1 in 45 for single applicants, with double the chances for married couples.
Since more than 60% of applications are often disqualified due to minor errors, The American Dream offers accredited immigration assistance to ensure applications are submitted correctly and help winners with further processing.
The American Dream has been helping people with all aspects of immigration and travel to the USA since 1996 – from applying for the Green Card Lottery to planning immigration to applying for business or tourist visas and sending employees to the USA. To date, they have assisted more than 21,000 immigrants on their way to a Green Card and have helped more than 50,000 leisure and business travellers obtain a visa or ESTA.
Holger Zimmermann, said: “We urge interested Britons to enter as soon as possible. This year might be the only chance for British citizens to participate in this popular programme.”
