Age UK Lambeth Launches Christmas Fundraising Campaign, Urging People to Say No to Socks and Get a Gift They’ll Remember

Age UK Lambeth has launched their Christmas fundraising campaign ‘Say No to Socks, Get a Gift You’ll Remember’. This festive season, the organisation is encouraging people to make a meaningful change and donate to the campaign instead of receiving naff gifts.

The cost of living crisis has had a severe impact on older individuals in the area, particularly those living on fixed incomes. 24% of older Londoners (over the age of 50) and 58% of people in fuel poverty in London are over 60 (Age UK London, 2022).

The funds raised from the campaign will go towards essential services, such as Winter Warm Hubs, Energy & Money Support and Friendship Services. Paul Coles, CEO of Age UK Lambeth, said: “Christmas is a time for joy and togetherness, but for many older adults in Lambeth, it can be a time of great hardship. The cost of living crisis has left them struggling to make ends meet, and we believe that no one should have to face these challenges alone.”

Donations can be made through the Just Giving page, www.justgiving.com/campaign/auklchristmas2023, by calling 07749 850058 or by emailing fundraising@ageuklambeth.org. Volunteers are also being sought to take part in the MY ho ho ho campaign by cooking and delivering an extra Christmas meal for an older person in Lambeth.

Age UK Lambeth is dedicated to ensuring that no older person in their community is left behind during the holiday season.
