Prosper achieved its Crowdfunding target of over £1,000,000 just a month after its launch.

Wealthtech platform Prosper has successfully concluded their first crowdfunding campaign, raising more than £1 million and reaching a total of £3.2 million from a range of investors, including Monzo co-founder Tom Blomfield, Capital One co-founder Matt Cooper, and other fintech angels.

The company was founded by fintech entrepreneurs Ricky Knox, Nick Perrett, and Phil Bungey, who have previously created businesses such as Nutmeg and Tandem Bank. The mission of Prosper is to provide its members with the highest cash interest rates, zero-fee index funds, and access to private market investments with the potential for higher returns. The company is also working to break away from the high-fee culture of the wealth industry and put their customers first.

“Having just launched the company last month, the amount of momentum we’ve gained and the fantastic group of new shareholders is a huge endorsement,” said Prosper CEO and founder Nick Perrett. “We can now carry out our mission of helping our members reach their financial potential from a position of strength.”

The round was 170% oversubscribed, with the £600,000 target being hit in only four hours. Around 400 investors took part in the campaign, with an average investment of £2.5k each, more than double the amount of other recent fintech Crowdfunds. Participants hailed from countries including New Zealand, Malaysia, and Australia, even though Prosper is currently only based in the United Kingdom.

Perrett continued by saying, “Having provided ISA, GIA, and SIPP accounts with access to zero fee index funds this year, we are eager to start helping people get the most out of their cash interest rate and open up alternative investments in 2024.”

The crowdfunding round was supported by a number of prominent figures from the fintech world, including Blomfield, who led Monzo’s £1 million crowdfund, ComplyAdvantage executive chair Charles Delingpole, and Tandem chair and Capital One co-founder Matt Cooper.
