The charity organization completed three laps around the Earth in January to raise awareness and support for individuals living with MS.

Bike the UK for MS Raises Awareness and Funds for Multiple Sclerosis with January #move4ms Challenge

London, UK – In an effort to raise awareness and funds for those living with multiple sclerosis (MS) in the UK, Bike the UK for MS organized a month-long challenge called #move4ms. The goal was for participants to move 1 kilometre for each of the 130,000 people living with MS in the UK. After 31 days, the final count was 125,323km, just a little short of their target but still an incredible feat.

Over 355 cyclists, runners, walkers, and swimmers logged their movement throughout the month of January to support the charity. Bike the UK for MS, which is entering its tenth year of organizing cycling challenges, aims to raise awareness and funds for the MS Society and its local support groups across the UK.

MS is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, with a wide range of symptoms that vary from person to person. While there is currently no cure for MS, there are treatments available to manage the condition and its symptoms. The #move4ms challenge aimed to show just how many people are living with MS in the UK and the impact this condition has on their lives.

“The final count of 125,323km goes to show just how many people are living with MS in the UK. It can be hard to visualize such a large number, but that’s equivalent to three laps around the world!” said a spokesperson for Bike the UK for MS. “To put it another way, that’s one in every 500 people. Enough to fill Wembley Stadium one and a half times. That is why charities such as Bike the UK for MS need everyone’s help: to continue to raise funds and awareness to help those living with MS.”

Bike the UK for MS has been organizing charity cycling challenges since 2014, including the popular Land’s End to John O’Groats and Scotland’s North Coast 500 routes. These challenges not only raise funds for important causes but also bring together a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

For those interested in participating in Bike the UK for MS’s upcoming summer 2024 trips, more information can be found on their website: https://www.biketheukforms.org/our-routes/. Additionally, stay tuned for their next challenge during MS Awareness Week from 22nd to 28th April.
