Sodexo has announced a collaboration with Great British Menu star Kate Austen for their new Modern Recipe project.

Sodexo, a leading global provider of food and facilities management services, has announced a new collaboration with renowned chef Kate Austen for its contemporary workplace dining offer, Modern Recipe. The partnership will see Kate working closely with Sodexo’s culinary team to co-develop exciting new dishes, conduct seminars and demonstrations, and share her style, skills, and techniques for creating delicious and healthy meals.

Kate, who rose to fame on the BBC’s Great British Menu, is recognized as one of the industry’s rising stars. She became the first female chef in the show’s 19-year history to win the main course dish. With her impressive experience at top restaurants such as Restaurant AOC in Copenhagen and Restaurant Frantzen in Sweden, Kate is known for her innovative and sustainable approach to cooking.

In her role as Modern Recipe ambassador, Kate will inspire and engage Sodexo’s customers with her contemporary food philosophy. Focused on fueling the body, increasing productivity, and being sustainably minded, Modern Recipe is Sodexo’s brand that elevates workplace dining. It brings high-street dining experiences into the workplace, transforming corporate restaurants into buzzing, multi-purpose social spaces where colleagues can meet, work, and relax over food and drink throughout the day. The menus are designed to be in tune with our bodies and considerate of the planet, with seasonal changes reflected in the dishes.

Speaking about the collaboration, Kate said, “I am incredibly excited to collaborate with Sodexo as its ambassador for Modern Recipe in the UK. Modern Recipe embodies a contemporary, healthy, and sustainable approach to workplace dining, and I am eager to work alongside Sodexo’s talented chefs and showcase this exciting and compelling brand.”

Sodexo’s Sustainable Food Barometer shows that 50% of those polled want to eat more sustainably at work, and 58% are willing to switch from animal proteins to plant proteins. Additionally, 73% believe that adopting a more sustainable way of eating is urgent. Modern Recipe is currently available at over 30 selected Sodexo client sites in the UK, including industries such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, and technology. The outlets vary in format from large restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops to kitchenettes, micro-markets, and smart fridges.

Inna Lim, Director of Marketing & Strategy at Sodexo UK&I Corporate Services, said, “Kate is the perfect fit for Modern Recipe’s mission to bring employees healthy and delicious food that provides a moment of human connection. We are passionate about making every moment and every occasion an opportunity for hospitality, and with Kate’s talent, we look forward to her helping us elevate our goal even further. Her culinary vision and dedication perfectly aligns with our business ethos and brand values and represents a significant step forward in redefining the standards of workplace dining.”

Starting July 2024, Modern Recipe customers will have the chance to enjoy dishes endorsed by Kate, including Tamari and Ginger Cauliflower Bao Buns, Steak and Grains Bowl, and Korean Style Soy, Sesame and Veg Braised Pollock, Rice, and Kimchi Cabbage.
