“Francis House Children’s Hospice to Benefit from Half Price Entry Offer at Run Heaton Park”

Francis House Children’s Hospice is teaming up with RunThrough Events to offer runners the opportunity to participate in a series of races at Heaton Park while supporting a great cause.

Starting on Sunday, December 1, 2024, the Run Heaton Park series will consist of a 5k, 10k, and half marathon. Francis House Children’s Hospice, a charity that provides care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, will be the official charity partner for the event.

Participants aged 11 and above can take advantage of 50% off entry fees, with the 5k costing £12, the 10k costing £13, and the half marathon costing £14. In return, runners are required to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

James Ferguson, fundraising officer of Francis House, expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “Run Heaton Park in support of Francis House offers an incredible opportunity for our community to come together, get active, and make a real difference to the lives of the children and families who rely on the compassionate care provided by their local children’s hospice.”

The first race will take place on Sunday, December 1, 2024, with additional runs scheduled for January 12, March 30, October 5, and November 30, 2025.

The race route is a 5km course on tarmac paths within Heaton Park, known for being the biggest and best park in the North West. The route offers scenic views of Heaton Hall, a Grade 1 listed neoclassical 18th-century house. Runners will face some challenging hills before finishing the lap with a welcome downhill section. The 5k is one lap, the 10k is two laps, and the half marathon is four laps with an additional out and back section at the start.

Run Heaton Park races are operated by RunThrough Events, with all races being chip-timed and every finisher receiving a themed medal. Participants running for Francis House will also receive a branded running t-shirt, a fundraising pack, and in-person support on the day.

Matt Wood, Co-Founder of RunThrough, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Francis House Hospice, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Francis House Hospice for the Run Heaton Park race. Their incredible work supporting children and families in need makes this collaboration truly special.”

Registration for charity places closes 10 days before each event, and runners can sign up on the Francis House website at https://www.francishouse.org.uk/get-involved/events/run-heaton-park-5k-10k-half-marathon/.
