New Men’s Mental Health Programme Launched by Piers Day

Award-winning mental health coach Piers Day is launching a groundbreaking national service to support men’s mental health, aiming to challenge the stigma that men don’t talk about their struggles.

The initiative, titled Out of the Darkness and Into the Lighthouse, is a comprehensive mental health programme designed for men of all ages, from teenagers to seniors. The service provides a safe and supportive space for men to openly discuss their mental health challenges, offering practical help, coping techniques, and a sense of community.

With webinars, regular meet-ups, and weekend events, participants can engage in activities such as group walks, fear-facing challenges, and retreats for small groups. Signature events include walking the 26-mile Pedlands Way in a single day and intimate retreats featuring holistic therapies like Reiki. The programme offers both virtual and in-person support, ensuring accessibility for men across the UK.

The driving force behind the project is Piers’ personal mission to “make suicide history.” Having personally lost three close friends to suicide, he is deeply committed to providing the support and tools that men often lack. Through Out of the Darkness, Piers seeks to break down barriers and equip participants with techniques to manage their mental health effectively.

The initiative also extends support to parents, offering programmes designed to help them navigate their children’s mental health challenges. The Lighthouse concept that underpins the programme symbolises a safe haven where people can find nurturing and guidance in their darkest times.

In addition to the programme’s structured activities, Piers has built a strong community through the Out of the Darkness Facebook group, which has already attracted over 400 members – even before its official UK launch. This growing platform provides a space for ongoing discussions and peer support.

The programme operates on a membership model, with flexible monthly plans providing access to its range of services and a dedicated membership site. With paid clients already signing up, the programme is set to officially launch within the next two weeks.

Piers Day said: “There is no question that some support exists, but the reality is there is not enough—especially for men. Too many guys are slipping through the cracks because they don’t feel comfortable opening up in traditional settings.

“That’s why Out of the Darkness and Into the Light House is so important. It’s about creating a space where men can genuinely connect, feel heard, and work through their challenges without judgment. This isn’t just about talking; it’s about action—facing fears, building resilience, and ultimately saving lives. I’ve seen first-hand the devastating impact of silence, and I’m determined to make sure no man feels like he has to battle his demons alone.”

Recent statistics reveal the urgent need for such initiatives: suicide remains a leading cause of death among men under 50 in the UK, with many struggling in silence. Out of the Darkness and Into the Light House offers a beacon of hope, encouraging men to step forward, share their stories, and find strength in solidarity.
