NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE INAUGURAL BROERMANN MEDICAL INNOVATION AWARD
Friday 17 January, 2025 – The nomination period for the highly prestigious Broermann Medical Innovation Award has officially begun. This award, which will be presented for the first time this year, aims to honor researchers worldwide who have made groundbreaking contributions in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, or related sciences.
Valued at one million euros, the Broermann Medical Innovation Award offers a prize money higher than the Nobel Prize for Medicine, making it one of the most highly endowed awards for medical research globally. The award recognizes research results with a high level of innovation for clinical application, with the potential to improve the lives and health of millions of people worldwide.
The Broermann Medical Innovation Award was established in 2024 to celebrate the vision and dedication of Dr. Bernard große Broermann, the founder of Asklepios Kliniken. The Broermann gemeinnützige GmbH is the sponsor of the award, while the University Hospital Giessen and Marburg (UKGM) manages its organization and selection process.
Prof. Werner Seeger, Chairman of the Award Committee, explains, “With this award, we want to recognize groundbreaking medical discoveries and highlight the researchers whose work brings real improvements in the prevention or treatment of diseases.” For Prof. Friedrich Grimminger, Medical Director of the UKGM, the Broermann Medical Innovation Award reflects the clear conviction of the company founder: “Scientific excellence in medicine is always an international team effort, but without the genius of individual researchers, networks are limited in their impact. These key players and drivers of medical innovation should be promoted and recognized worldwide.”
Nominations for the Broermann Medical Innovation Award can be submitted until March 1, 2025, through the nomination portal at www.broermann-award.org/nomination/. The award will be presented by the incumbent Hessian Minister President in December 2025 at the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden.
