The UK Men’s Sheds Association is seeking to enhance regional community networks in the East Midlands, North West, and North East regions.

UK Men’s Shed Association (UKMSA) has announced three one-day events to be held in February and March 2025 for new, existing, and yet-to-be established community sheds. These free events are designed to bring together individuals and organizations involved in the development and management of men’s sheds.

The events will take place on Tuesday 25th February 2025 at Newark Rugby Club in Newark, Nottinghamshire; Thursday 6th March 2025 at Deafway Centre in Preston, Lancashire; and Wednesday 12th March 2025 at The Old Firestation in Middlesbrough Town Hall, Teesside.

Men’s Sheds are community spaces for men to socialize, learn new skills, and work on projects together. While many sheds focus on activities such as woodworking, metalworking, and arts and crafts, they also provide a space for men to form friendships and support one another.

According to Rachel Meadows, head of development at UKMSA, these events offer an opportunity for shedders to connect with others in their region and share their knowledge and experiences. “There’s a wealth of knowledge within Sheds and we’re keen for Shedders to get together with other Sheds in their region to make new connections and share expertise,” said Meadows.

The events will feature panel discussions, roundtable debates, and a tool exchange, where sheds can share their resources. They are open to all sheds looking to make local connections and learn new ways to run and manage their shed.

Individuals or organizations interested in supporting a local shed or a shed in development can contact their local Shed development officer. For those in the North of England, they can reach out to Anne.whelan@ukmsa.org.uk, and for those in the East Midlands region, they can contact Ruth.Gibbsmith@ukmsa.org.uk.

To attend these regional events, interested individuals can register for free on Eventbrite at https://menssheds.org.uk/shedconnect/. For more information, visit the UKMSA website at https://menssheds.org.uk/shedconnect.
