Hope Spring eCards, the online greetings card website that raises money for water poverty alleviation charity, Hope Spring, has announced the launch of its Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCards. The announcement was made in a blog post on the organisation’s website on Monday, February 3rd, 2025.
The website now offers more than ten Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCards in three different categories, including animated and video eCards. According to Seun Olonade, the site platform manager and one of the card designers for Hope Spring eCards, the decision to create Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCards was inspired by the positive response to their Welsh language Christmas eCards last year.
“We were encouraged by the positive response to our Welsh language Christmas eCards last year, which is why we decided to design Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCards this year,” said Olonade. “We do not expect the cards to be as popular as Christmas cards, but we are confident that Welsh speakers would like and send the cards.”
When asked about the significance of having Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCards, Olonade explained, “There are some Welsh words that the English equivalent just can’t capture the spirit of. A good example is the word ‘Cwtch.’ There is a popular saying in Wales that only the Welsh can Cwtch, and that expression is best captured in Welsh than any other language.”
Starting from February 3rd, Hope Spring supporters and visitors to their website can send the Welsh language Valentine’s Day eCard. All proceeds from eCards sent through the website are used to fund clean water projects in Africa. The charity has already helped over one hundred thousand people out of extreme water poverty.
