Colombo Kitchen, a renowned Sri Lankan restaurant with locations in Worcester Park and Putney, is excited to announce the launch of its first-ever five-course tasting menu on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This menu is a culinary journey that showcases the vibrant and diverse flavors of Sri Lanka and will be available alongside the restaurant’s a la carte menu.
The tasting menu features a variety of dishes that highlight the best of Sri Lankan cuisine, including Grilled Prawns in Lime and Coconut Salsa served with gotukola, Thali with assorted Curries, and Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Biscuit Pudding. These dishes are a testament to the expertise of Executive Chef Sylvia Perera, who was recently named National Chef of the Year at the 2024 Asian Restaurant Awards. In addition, Colombo Kitchen’s renowned lamprais received a prestigious 2-star Great Taste Award from the Guild of Fine Food in 2024.
For Chef Perera, this tasting menu is a tribute to her coastal upbringing in Negombo, where she would purchase the freshest seafood from local fishermen, a ritual known as “Lellama.” She explains, “This menu is a reflection of my cherished memories growing up in Negombo, a town famous for its seafood. My time there taught me the delicate handling of seafood and the art of selecting and preparing the best seafood to perfection.”
Colombo Kitchen’s new tasting menu offers diners the chance to savor the complexity and variety of Sri Lankan cuisine, expertly crafted by an award-winning chef. The menu will be available at both the Worcester Park and Putney locations throughout the week with three days advance notice. Reservations can be made online at www.colombokitchen.co.uk.
