Hope Spring eCards, a charity fundraising digital greetings card platform, announced the release of its Easter 2025 greetings ecards on Wednesday 9 April, 2025. According to a blog post on the organisation’s website, over ten of the twenty Easter ecards unveiled feature some form of animation.
Temi Odurinde, trustee of Hope Spring, explained the decision to incorporate animation into the majority of this year’s greetings cards. “The incredible popularity of videos and animated content influenced our design for Easter ecards this year,” he stated. “During the Christmas season last year, most of the eCards sent through our platform were either animated or video greetings cards.”
Hope Spring eCards supports the Hope Spring water poverty alleviation charity through the sale of digital greetings cards that operate on a donation basis. The majority of sales for the organisation occur during major national holidays like Easter and Christmas, as well as special occasions like Mother’s Day.
The trend of sending greetings digitally has seen a recent surge in popularity. In addition to the convenience of sending greetings through platforms like WhatsApp and email, the rising cost of postage stamps has also contributed to the rise in digital greetings. The perception that ecards are more environmentally friendly than paper cards has also played a role in their popularity.
Hope Spring eCards’ ability to create animated Easter ecards is due in part to a recent partnership with Nigerian ICT training website Odurinde. The site sends some of its top students in video and graphic design to assist Hope Spring in designing ecards on a pro bono basis. In turn, Hope Spring uses proceeds from eCards donations to build wells and boreholes in Nigeria and other countries in West Africa.
Thanks to their charity eCards platform, Hope Spring has raised thousands of pounds that have been used to support communities without access to safe, clean water. More information about Hope Spring’s water projects and their animated Easter charity ecards can be found on their website and social media pages.
