Know AML to Mark AML World Awareness Day on April 21, 2025 with Ambassadors, Global Network, and Community
On Monday, April 14, 2025, Know AML announced their plans to mark AML World Awareness Day on April 21, 2025. The organization will be joined by their ambassadors, global network, and community to increase awareness and education about acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
The initiative aims to address the need for education and support surrounding the long-term physical and psychological effects of AML treatment. Many people are unaware of the impact of AML treatment on a patient’s overall health, and the resources available for managing these effects. Know AML hopes to bridge this gap by providing accessible resources and information to the AML community.
In honor of AML World Awareness Day, Know AML will be developing an interactive guide and downloadable PDF that will serve as a comprehensive resource on the long-term effects of AML treatment. The guide will be divided into easy-to-read chapters and will be available for download on their website. The organization is also calling on individuals from around the world to join them in raising awareness by participating in the interactive guide and sharing it with others.
Anna Mamwell, Know AML ambassador and patient, expressed her support for the initiative, stating “I’m pleased that this was chosen, certainly, something I have struggled with so raising awareness will be great.”
Christine Verini, CEO of CancerCare, also shared her thoughts on the importance of AML World Awareness Day, saying “As patients, survivors, caregivers, and advocates, it is our responsibility to ensure that those affected by AML are given the opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for themselves, in addition to having the resources, education, and support they need to navigate life both during and beyond treatment.”
