: “A Love Letter to Atlanta” is transformed into “A Love Letter is Written to Atlanta by Author”

British-Ugandan filmmaker, journalist, broadcaster, and model, Norman Busigu has been making waves in the media industry. With accolades from Forbes Africa, GQ South Africa, and Rolling Stone Africa, Busigu has become known as a “voice in global media” and a “vanguard shaping global African cinema.” His portfolio career has taken him across continents, and now he has set his sights on connecting and serving the creative ecosystems of the African diaspora.

In order to accomplish this, Busigu understands the importance of engaging with the various sub-cultures within the Black-American community. He recently attended the ForbesBLK Summit at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, as a representative of his media platform Postcards From The Diaspora. His travels were also in collaboration with British Airways.

During his time in Atlanta, Busigu had the opportunity to immerse himself in the culture and community of the city. He was struck by the concept of “southern hospitality,” realizing that it was not just a metaphor but a way of life for the Black-American community. As he explains, “The innate warmth and friendliness that they supposedly have has manifested itself to close-knit culture which exists.”

One of the highlights of Busigu’s trip was attending the ForbesBLK Summit. The three-day event brought together black leaders, entrepreneurs, and emerging talent to discuss economic prosperity and the future of black entrepreneurship and influence. Busigu was impressed by the sense of urgency and collective responsibility exhibited by the attendees, as well as the sincere networking and safe space created at Morehouse.

But it was his time outside of the summit, exploring the city and its culture, that truly opened Busigu’s eyes. From visiting historical sites such as Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. was baptized, to experiencing the vibrant music and art scene, Busigu was enamored by the city’s rich history and deep connection to Black-American culture.

He also had the opportunity to attend the Morris Brown College Homecoming and see the community come together to empower and support the youth. Busigu describes the experience as a window into the incredible world of HBCUs and fraternities.

In conclusion, Busigu reflects on his time in Atlanta and the impact it has had on him. He says, “There is nowhere on earth like Atlanta, and it is a perfect representation of what ‘southern hospitality’ embodies.” He is excited to continue exploring and learning about Black-American culture and hopes to use his work to bridge the gaps between Black-British, African, and Black-American discourse.
