A new fund has been established, all thanks to a generous legacy gift.

Couple Leaves Lasting Legacy for Young People of West Cumbrian Community

The passing of Edwin and Anita Mackay has left a profound impact on the West Cumbrian community. However, their legacy continues to live on through their generous gift to the Cumbria Community Foundation.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of their property in Seaton has been donated to the Foundation, which has established the Edwin and Anita Mackay Memorial Fund. This fund will benefit local young people by awarding grants of up to £500 to charitable groups. These grants will support various project costs, such as coaching or equipment for junior sports teams, drama workshops for under-18s, and the improvement of community facilities that benefit young people.

The Cumbria Community Foundation is a leading charitable organization that gives around £6 million in grants each year to local charities and voluntary groups. These grants are made possible through over 100 grant-making funds set up by generous individuals, families, and businesses.

Caroline Adams, Development Manager for Cumbria Community Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the Mackay’s donation and the contributions of others who choose to give through the Foundation. She shared, “Leaving a gift in your will is a wonderful way of allowing a family name to live on and supporting causes that are close to someone’s heart for many years to come.”
