NEC Launches New GCSE Resit Courses to Help Students Achieve Grade 4 or Higher in November 2024 Exams
The National Extension College (NEC), a renowned provider of online and distance learning, has recently announced the launch of two new GCSE resit courses: GCSE English Language Resit and GCSE Maths Resit. These courses are specifically designed for individuals who aim to achieve a Grade 4 or higher in their resit exams scheduled for November 2024.
NEC has a long-standing tradition of promoting access to education and offering crucial qualifications such as GCSEs and A levels that can be studied flexibly from anywhere and at any time. The introduction of these two new GCSE resit courses is a testament to NEC’s commitment to helping individuals succeed in their education. They are tailored to assist those who have previously failed their GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Maths exams.
Esther Chesterman, Chief Executive at the National Extension Colleges, explains the rationale behind these new courses, stating, “In addition to impeding their social and emotional development, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically affected the reading, writing, and math skills of many young adults. The repercussions of their disrupted education are reflected in their GCSE exam results and will likely continue for years to come.”
She further adds, “Our two new personalized GCSE resit courses have been carefully designed to support these students in retaking their English Language and/or Maths exams and achieving a Pass at Grade 4 or higher. Each course begins with an Introductory Quiz, which helps us identify the areas where students need the most help, enabling them to resit their exams with confidence.”
These courses are not only suitable for individual students looking to resit their exams but also for schools seeking resit options for their students. Additionally, FE colleges and sixth forms can also license NEC’s course materials.
Key features of NEC’s GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language resit courses include a personalized 1-2-1 session with an expert tutor, an introductory online seminar, and further online group sessions with tutors and peers. Students also receive dedicated support from the NEC team and expert tutors who provide feedback and guidance throughout the course. They also have access to past exam papers and a revision quiz to reinforce their learning. Furthermore, NEC guarantees an exam place at one of their Partnership Exam Centres.
NEC also offers additional support to students under 18 and those with special needs. “At NEC, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to achieve their learning goals, regardless of their circumstances,” says Esther Chesterman. “We offer various forms of support to our students, including guidance on requesting access arrangements for exams, 1-to-1 pastoral support, and a dedicated Wellbeing for Learning program.”
The courses are delivered entirely online, allowing students to study at their own pace and fit learning around their schedule. This means there is no need to attend evening or college classes.
Individuals interested in these courses can visit the NEC website or contact them via email or phone for more information. With these new GCSE resit courses, NEC is determined to make education accessible and achievable for everyone.
