Welsh Buddhist David Oromith Releases New Book on Finding Peace and Happiness Amid Mental Health Struggles
Swansea, UK – On Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, David Oromith released his latest book, “Calm Mind, Open Heart: 108 Reflections from Buddhism, Psychology & Real Life.” The book, published by Samadhi Publications, is a guide for those struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety, stress, and burnout.
At the age of eighteen, Oromith was in the midst of a mental health crisis and found himself planning his own death. However, after a late-night Google search asking “Why is life just suffering?” Oromith discovered the path of meditation and mindfulness. Now, over twelve years later, he is a popular meditation teacher, using his own experiences to help others find peace and happiness.
In his book, Oromith shares the lessons he learned that helped him trade panic attacks for peace of mind. Each reflection is easy to follow and fits on a single page, combining timeless Buddhist teachings with practical tips that can be practiced in everyday situations. Oromith’s warm, humorous, and honest approach, as someone who has walked the path himself, makes it accessible for readers of all backgrounds.
“I know firsthand how it feels to struggle with mental health issues, and I want others to know that genuine change is possible without having to escape to a mountaintop,” Oromith says. “I wrote this book so that no one has to feel as helpless as I did.”
Early buyers have the opportunity to preorder a signed copy of the book, which will be delivered one week ahead of its official street date on August 1st, 2025. The book will also be available on Amazon and in UK bookstores.
Oromith’s journey to mindfulness began while working in mental health services, where he was already battling his own depression. “Professionals told me I might have to just live with it,” he recalls. “But Buddhism showed me that thoughts are not facts and that compassion and happiness can be trained like any other skill.” Today, he is a co-founder of the UK charity Samadhi, teaches weekly classes online and in person, and is preparing for a book launch event in Swansea.
Manu Oromith, co-founder of Samadhi, adds, “David’s story is a testament to the fact that small, daily changes can transform a life. ‘Calm Mind, Open Heart’ puts the power to do so in the reader’s pocket.”
The book, which is 145 pages and pocket-sized (108 x 171 mm), is available for £8.99 at samadhi.org.uk/calm-mind-open-heart. The official launch and book signing event in Swansea will be announced at a later date.
