Age Concern Hampshire and Clodagh McKenna have partnered together to support Dementia Action Week.

Age Concern Hampshire, a leading charity in the Hampshire region, is teaming up with their charity patron Clodagh McKenna to celebrate Dementia Action Week from May 13-19. The event aims to raise awareness and encourage action in support of those living with dementia.

As part of the celebrations, Age Concern Hampshire will be hosting a cook-along event featuring recipes from their esteemed patron chef, Clodagh McKenna. The special event will take place at Age Concern Hampshire’s Care and Wellbeing centres and will be prepared by their dedicated cooks throughout the week.

“I am so honored to be the Patron of Age Concern Hampshire and help raise awareness for the charity and the essential dementia support they provide,” said Charity Patron, Clodagh Mckenna. “What we eat has a huge impact on our brain function, and a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, pulses, and oily fish like salmon can help lower the risks and slow down the development of dementia. During Dementia Action Week, we will be sharing healthy recipes that focus on these ingredients.”

Proper nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health and wellbeing, especially for those living with dementia. The event will feature meals that are rich in essential nutrients such as Vitamins B6, B12, and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables, known to support brain health. Adequate nutrition can help support cognitive function and may even slow down the progression of cognitive decline.

In addition to the cook-along event, Age Concern Hampshire will be offering a range of activities throughout the week specifically tailored for individuals living with dementia. These activities will focus on nurturing cognitive abilities and improving overall wellbeing.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Clodagh for Dementia Action Week,” said Helen Callen, CEO at Age Concern Hampshire. “We are committed to providing essential support for those affected by dementia and raising awareness to help older people navigate cognitive challenges.”
