Age Concern Hampshire, an independent charity, is celebrating 40 years of supporting older people across Hampshire. Since its establishment in 1985, the charity has provided a wide range of services to help older adults live well and independently for longer.
The organization has expanded over the years to include Care and Wellbeing Centres, Help at Home services, Foot Care Clinics, Social Groups, Hospital to Home support, free Information Hubs, and various other essential activities. Staff and volunteers from all walks of life work together to offer friendship, guidance, and care at every stage of ageing.
As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Age Concern Hampshire has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its vital Social Groups, which are at risk due to the end of previous funding streams. These groups have become a crucial part of life for many older people and help combat loneliness and isolation. Instead of introducing participation fees, which could be unaffordable for many older people, the charity is appealing to the public for financial support.
To donate, individuals can visit the crowdfunding page at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/wellbeing-groups-for-older-people.
Loneliness and social isolation can lead to depression and anxiety, making the services provided by ACH Social Groups even more crucial. These groups offer attendees the opportunity to stay socially connected, access peer-to-peer emotional support, and participate in gentle exercise and structured activities in a welcoming and friendly environment. The sessions are coordinated and delivered by a trained team of staff and volunteers.
The funds raised through the campaign will be used to cover the coordination and delivery of the groups. Keeping these sessions free for all to access aligns with the charity’s mission of inclusivity and sustained support.
The public is encouraged to mark this milestone year by supporting Age Concern Hampshire in their mission to ensure that no older person in Hampshire is left without connection, purpose, or support. To donate, individuals can visit https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/wellbeing-groups-for-older-people.
