Bayer and PAPACKS Join Forces to Develop Sustainable Packaging Solutions for Consumer Health Products

Basel, Switzerland – In a move towards a more sustainable future, Bayer has announced a strategic collaboration with PAPACKS to develop fiber-based packaging for some of the company’s Consumer Health products. This partnership aims to reduce the use of traditional plastic packaging and contribute to Bayer’s commitment to ensure 100% of their product packaging is recycle-ready or reusable by 2030.

Bayer’s Consumer Health division includes popular brands such as Aspirin, Bepanthen, and Claritin. By collaborating with PAPACKS, a leading producer of moulded pulp packaging solutions, Bayer aims to develop biodegradable, pulp-based packaging made from responsible virgin fibers. This packaging will feature PAPACK’s innovative moulded pulp technology, which utilizes materials derived from renewable sources and a plant-based coating.

Jesse DelGigante, Director of Global Packaging Innovation for Bayer’s Consumer Health division, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for this collaboration. “Reducing plastic utilization is one of the greatest challenges of our industry, so we’re proud to join forces with PAPACKS to accelerate progress towards using eco-friendly, renewable sources for our packaging,” he said. “This collaboration is a strong step forward in our sustainable packaging journey.”

Tahsin Dag, Founder & CEO of PAPACKS, also shared his excitement for the partnership. “We’re looking forward to the challenge of combining our unique pulp technology with plant-based coating with the rigorous standards mandated by regulatory agencies for over-the-counter medicines,” he said. “We expect this collaboration to help redefine packaging standards for the industry.”

This collaboration is a part of Bayer’s commitment to advancing sustainable packaging solutions. It follows their recent announcement of joining the Blister Pack Collective, a group working to reduce single-use plastics in healthcare packaging.

PAPACKS is known for its dedication to sustainability and innovation in the packaging industry. The company specializes in providing eco-friendly alternatives to traditional plastic packaging and is committed to utilizing biodegradable materials derived from renewable sources. “We are proud to be a leading producer of moulded pulp packaging solutions and are committed to playing our part in creating a more sustainable future,” said Manuel Leibrock, Chief Marketing Officer of PAPACKS.
