Bentley has revealed a new engineering hub in Crewe that will support their plans for an electrified future.

Luxury car manufacturer Bentley Motors celebrates the opening of its new state-of-the-art Engineering Technical Centre in Crewe on Friday, September 26, 2025. The new centre, located at the brand’s carbon neutral headquarters, will play a crucial role in the company’s preparations for future model development.

The official opening of the Engineering Technical Centre was marked by a private event attended by Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, and Board Member for R&D, Dr. Matthias Rabe. This new facility is part of a significant investment programme in future products and facilities at the Pyms Lane factory, where all Bentley models are handcrafted.

Spanning over two floors and covering a total area of 13,000 square meters, the Engineering Technical Centre brings together both virtual and physical properties, enabling collaborative work throughout. It includes a prototype workshop, material development department, and a software integration department. These departments were previously located in the A1 building, the oldest building on the Pyms Lane site, which is currently being transformed into a BEV assembly plant, set to begin production in 2027.

Dr. Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for R&D, commented on the new developments, saying, “Our Beyond100+ strategy outlines a fundamental programme of change, utilizing current knowledge and adapting our vision as we embrace future technologies. We are focused on developing the next generation of electrified driving, digitally connected cars, and autonomous driving capabilities that will deliver the highest levels of luxury mobility.”

He added, “This new Engineering Technical Centre is a vital component in the successful execution of our strategy, providing the necessary support for engineering concepts to become a reality at the heart of development and integration. We are committed to creating the most luxurious and high-performance vehicles on the market.”

Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy involves a complete reinvention of its product range to support an electrified future. The opening of the Engineering Technical Centre will play a crucial role in achieving this goal, along with other ongoing expansions on site. These include the recently opened Design Studio and the ongoing construction of the new Paint Shop and Integrated Logistics Centre, set to open next year.
