bid The city of Hamburg, chosen as the host for the UEFA EURO 2024, rejoices in its title as the Fan Capital of the tournament.

Hamburg, Germany – After four weeks of non-stop football, the Host City of Hamburg has successfully concluded its role in the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament. From June 16 to July 20, residents and visitors alike were swept up in the excitement and energy of the event, making Hamburg the fan capital of the tournament.

With a combination of solidarity, creativity, and impeccable organization, the Host City brought people from all around the world together to create a memorable and iconic experience. And now, as the newly-crowned European champion, Spain has taken its place atop the container installation in Hamburg’s harbor, completing the world’s largest tournament bracket created for the knockout round.

The container installation, a hallmark of Hamburg’s maritime flair, has been a popular photo spot for visitors. Stacked with 28 containers and standing at 45 meters wide and 10 meters tall, the installation has been a logistical feat and an iconic image that will be remembered not only in Hamburg and Germany, but also around the world. It now proudly displays Spain’s victory in the UEFA EURO 2024.

Visitors and residents can still admire the container installation at O’Swaldkai in the Port of Hamburg until July 20, 2024. The best views can be found at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg Plaza and the Strandkai in HafenCity Hamburg, or during a harbor tour.

Another popular attraction in the Fan Zone was the ‘Matches of the Day’ installation, which featured a modular LED surface that displayed the real-time scores of the matches.

The atmosphere in Hamburg during the UEFA EURO 2024 was electric, with hundreds of thousands of people coming together to celebrate the sport. The Volksparkstadion hosted five exciting matches, including four group games and one quarter-final, and provided endless electrifying moments for the 250,000 fans who attended live. But the excitement wasn’t limited to the stadium – the centrally-located Fan Zone saw 614,000 visitors during the 51 matches screened there.

Some of the most memorable moments included when almost 40,000 Dutch fans transformed Hamburg into a sea of orange football jerseys, and when 40,000 Turkish fans provided vocal support for their team, who made it to the quarter-finals. The area around Stellingen S-Bahn station became a French fan zone, while the Portuguese quarter was decorated in the national colors of Portugal. During the quarter-finals, around 82,000 fans gathered in the Fan Zone to cheer on their team.
