Bladder Cancer UK announces the launch of a learning module aimed at primary care professionals.

Action Bladder Cancer UK Launches New Online Learning Module for Primary Care Professionals

London, UK – Action Bladder Cancer UK, a leading charity organization dedicated to supporting bladder cancer patients and their families, has recently announced the launch of a new online learning module for primary care healthcare professionals. The free, CPD-accredited module aims to improve healthcare professionals’ knowledge of bladder cancer and ultimately improve early detection and patient outcomes.

Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer, with over 23,000 cases diagnosed in the UK each year. However, the disease is often diagnosed very late, leading to lower survival rates and delayed treatment for those affected. ABC UK’s mission is to raise awareness of bladder cancer and improve early detection by supporting GPs in recognizing symptoms and knowing when to refer patients.

Developed in partnership with NB Medical, the one-hour online module is designed to enhance GPs’ understanding of bladder cancer. The module uses case studies to focus on the signs and symptoms of the disease, including visible and non-visible haematuria, as well as persistent UTIs. It also covers the epidemiology and risk factors for bladder cancer, how to recognize clinical features, and how to manage cases. Additionally, the module provides insight into how secondary care investigates and manages bladder cancer.

The ABC UK Primary Care learning module is available for free and can be accessed on their website. Jeannie Rigby, CEO of ABC UK, expressed her excitement about expanding their education programme to provide a valuable learning opportunity for primary care professionals. “Bladder cancer is frequently diagnosed late, and it remains the only common cancer whose survival rates are not improving. We want this to change,” she said. “There are few opportunities for healthcare professionals to improve their knowledge of bladder cancer, and ABC UK is committed to addressing this gap and improving outcomes for patients.”

ABC UK’s Education Programme includes a yearly nurse education conference, regular webinars, and other online learning modules for healthcare professionals, networking opportunities, and a range of specialist resources available online and in print.
