Blast Theory and Taiwanese artist Ting-Tong Chang collaborate to premiere their latest interactive artwork at SXSW 2025, providing further evidence of their creative prowess.

Blast Theory, pioneers of interactive art, will be showcasing their latest work, Proof As If Proof Were Needed, at the SXSW 2025 event on Friday, January 24th.

The highly anticipated interactive single screen video installation was created in collaboration with Ting-Tong Chang. It invites visitors to explore the floorplan of a Taiwanese house, with the video projection changing as they move from room to room.

As visitors delve deeper into the house, they uncover the story of a couple who have returned to their abandoned home to confront the secrets they kept from each other. The work is designed to be both a closed loop and a progressive story, with the order in which the rooms are explored leading to different interpretations.

Proof As If Proof Were Needed is a vivid cinematic experience that follows the logic of dreams, as visitors wander through the remnants of a relationship breakdown.

The work will be premiering as part of the XR Experience Competition at SXSW in Austin, Texas later this year. It is a collaboration between Ting-Tong Chang and Blast Theory.

Proof As If Proof Were Needed is also part of the Future Art and Culture programme at SXSW, which is produced by British Underground and Arts Council England with partnership support from the British Council. Additional support for the project comes from the British Council, BFI Travel Grants, and the Taiwanese National Culture and Art Foundation’s (NCAF) Rainbow Initiative.

The project aims to showcase the best of British art and technology through exhibitions, panel discussions, partnerships, and networking events. The NCAF’s Rainbow Initiative, on the other hand, supports groundbreaking cultural productions and collaborations between local and international institutions.
