The British Forces Resettlement Service (BFRS) is proud to announce its first National Careers Fair in Colchester, taking place at the historic Colchester Garrison on Thursday 8th June 2023. The event, which is free and open to all service leavers, veterans and their families, aims to connect them with employers and support services to aid in their transition from military to civilian life.
The Corporal Budd VC Gymnasium on Berechurch Rd will host a variety of exhibitors from a diverse range of sectors, including engineering, logistics, construction and defence. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the thousands of job openings on offer, as well as receive invaluable insights into the various career paths available.
As well as employers, there will also be training providers present to support attendees in making the transition smoother. They will provide practical knowledge and skills to help enhance employability. To register for the event, please visit the BFRS website.
Harry Dean, founder and CEO of BFRS, said, “We are delighted to announce our first National Careers Fair in Colchester, which we hope will provide a fantastic platform for service leavers, veterans, and their families to explore their career options. Our goal is to help them make a successful transition into civilian life by connecting them with employers and support services. We encourage all service leavers and veterans to attend and make the most of this unique opportunity. The results speak for themselves with many attendees gaining employment and new career paths after attending one of our events.”
Jack Taylor, a former Army mechanic, is one such example of the success of the event. After a decade of service, Jack opted for a career change and completed the AIS Survivex ‘Military to Wind’ training course, funded by Elcas. Within a month of completing his training, he landed a full-time job with Correll Group, the leading global specialists in offshore and onshore high-voltage cabling.
The BFRS National Careers Fair in Colchester is proudly sponsored by AIS Survivex and the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC). Attendees will have the chance to win exciting prizes, including training courses and work experience opportunities.
